More Ideas for Lawyers Who Litigate and Need to Help Clients Settle

Posted By Administration, Wednesday, December 09, 2015

A year ago, our Joint Committee brought members of the bar tips and advice from Professor John Lande about negotiating early and effectively. His programs were a hit and the relevant materials are posted on our blog (see "Negotiate with Less Stress: Put PEN to Work").

James Coben, speaker at VBA's 126th Annual Meeting Jan. 21-23, 2016, in Williamsburg Now, take another trip with us on this important subject of the interplay between litigation and alternative resolutions practice. In January 2016 we are sponsoring with the VBA Civil Litigation Section a follow-up program, “Disputing Irony: A Systematic Look at Litigation about Mediation.”

James Coben, Senior Fellow at the Hamline Law School Dispute Resolution Institute, will speak during the VBA’s 126th Annual Meeting, Jan. 21-23, 2016, in Williamsburg. His program will be as relevant and helpful for lawyers and mediators as was the Lande program – in fact they are colleagues, and John Lande suggested Professor Coben as a good sequel.

An article in the winter Virginia ADR newsletter, Vol. XIII, No. 2, addresses Coben's background and expertise.

Check out the event webpage at vba.org/vbaannual2016 for details regarding dates, times, registration and room reservation info.
