Registration is open for this conference, sponsored by the Criminal Law Section of the VBA. This program, sponsored by the Criminal Law Section of The Virginia Bar Association, is designed for criminal defense attorneys willing to accept appointment in capital cases. Part-time prosecutors may not attend the workshop, even though part of their practice may include court-appointed cases for criminal defendants.

The Virginia Law Foundation provides financial assistance that allows this workshop to be presented with only a nominal charge to registrants to cover expenses over and above grant funding. The workshop provides a minimum of ten hours of specialized capital defense training, as required by § 19.2-163.8(B) of the Virginia Code. Members of the planning committee include Mathew Engle, Samuel W. Dworkin, Joseph T. Flood, Robert E. Lee, Jr., Elizabeth J. Peiffer, Douglas A. Ramseur, Jon Sheldon, and Michael Lasher.
This year's program seeks to provide 10.5 hours of MCLE credit, including 1 Ethics (approval pending). Over the course of two days, attendees will hear notable speakers discuss pertinent cases and issues in Criminal Law.
