Mission
The newly reorganized Environment, Natural Resources, and Energy Law Section
seeks to expand the scope of its services to a broader range of attorneys
practicing in the widespread substantive areas impacted by federal and
state environmental laws. We seek to serve attorneys throughout all geographical
areas of the Commonwealth of Virginia in the numerous practice areas relating
to environmental regulation and litigation, including the impacts on environmental
permitting, land use, business transactions, water rights, regulation
of natural resources, mining, oil and gas development, and other energy-related
areas. We seek to provide information, contacts, and resources to assist
attorneys involved in these areas. The Section also monitors the host
of environmentally-related legislative initiatives each year from the
Virginia Assembly, provides useful and timely summaries of the new bills
passed, and seeks, where appropriate, to initiate proposals or to provide
input to proposed legislation.
Cooperation with Other Sections and Continuing
Legal Education (CLE)
The broad impact of environmental law has implications for many practice
areas. Consequently, the Section seeks to cooperate with other sections
of the VBA that share common interests in conducting CLEs and providing
information resources. The Section seeks representation and input from
attorneys practicing in all geographic areas of the commonwealth of Virginia.
Your Input and Participation is Important
We are now in the process of assembling a list of web resources relating
to regulation and litigation in the areas of environment, natural resources,
and energy, as well as database sources of factual information relevant
to these areas.. We welcome suggestions of additional web sites or information
resources and contributions of informative brief articles regarding recent
developments in the environmentally-related practice areas. Please write,
call, or e-mail the section chair with suggestions you may have regarding
the operation of the Section, our programs, Anyone willing to contribute,
or contributing in any other way to the work of the Section, is encouraged
to contact the section chair.
