Telling Tales

Are you a mediator, lawyer, or both who enjoys learning new skills by listening to the experiences (“war stories”) of others?

There are not a lot of opportunities to hear or share those stories - in part because of strict confidentiality requirements. The Joint Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee is experimenting with “Stories from Beyond the Courtroom” as a way of introducing some lessons, subtle or not, in a completely scrubbed format that does not violate confidentiality.

Take a look at a few examples, from recent issues of Virginia ADR [PDF]. The newsletter is distributed twice a year to members of the Joint ADR Committee.

Then let us know what you think by sharing your comments. Just click on the Comment on this Post link at the bottom of this blog entry. Be sure to avoid identifying information that would violate confidentiality and to follow the Guidelines for Online Participation.

Do you have a story worth sharing in the Virginia ADR newsletter? Send your submission to the Joint ADR Committee's communications team for consideration.

Send us your Story from Beyond the Courtroom -- we learn best by listening to each other.
