Cannot Attend in Person But Want the MCLEs?

If you plan to attend virtually, you can attend all three programs for a discounted rate of $200, or register for programs individually at an a la carte rate. Once you have registered for the webinar, please watch your email for a registration confirmation. For your security, you will receive an email with instructions on how to connect to the webinar the day before the presentation. 

The deadline to register for the virtual MCLEs is July 21, 2020.

Title: Conflicts of Interest: A Practical Roadmap

Speaker: Thomas E. Spahn

Description: This interactive program uses hypotheticals to explore basic conflicts of interest rules, including: the general prohibition on adversity to current clients; the definition of "client" for conflicts purposes (including corporations, associations, estates and others); the definition of "adversity" for conflicts purposes (including business adversity, adverse financial impact, discovery of clients and positional adversity); the complex rules governing joint representations; the more subtle standard governing adversity to former clients; determining the status of an attorney-client relationship; application of the "substantial relationship" standard; "material limitation" conflicts; lawyers' ability to withdraw from a representation to cure a conflict (including the "hot potato" rule); consents that can cure conflicts (including the revocability of consents and prospective consents); disqualification motions based on conflicts of interest (including standards, process and effects).

Description: Join us as we review decisions of the Supreme Court of Virginia over the past year.

The U.S. Senate Debate, and Other Signature Activities 

The planned debate among candidates for the U.S. Senate from Virginia will not be held in July. This public event will be rescheduled.
There are no plans for organized tournaments, the Fun Run or the Spouse/Guest Culinary Program this year.
The Friday Banquet will not be held this year. Instead, members and guests in the VBA room block are invited to an outdoor picnic Friday evening. Incoming Life Members, who traditionally take the banquet stage in recognition of their long VBA involvement, instead will be honored in the fall 2020 VBA Journal.
Receptions are not planned, given current social distancing guidelines. If applicable government orders allow larger gatherings at the time of the meeting, receptions may be scheduled which may involve additional charges to attendees to cover expenses.

Martha's Market:
Thursday - Saturday: 6:30 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Sunday - Wednesday: 6:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Coffee, tea and specialty drinks are available along with a variety of “grab and go” items.
Woody's:
Sunday - Thursday: 12:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Friday - Saturday: 12:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.
Woody's is takeout only at this time.
Jefferson’s Bar:
Daily: 11:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m.
Per state guidelines, we must maintain a capacity of less than 50 individuals in this area.
Tables will be spaced appropriately to promote social distancing.
Jefferson's Restaurant:
Daily:
7:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.
5:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.
Per state guidelines, we must maintain a capacity of less than 50 individuals in this area.

Jefferson’s will also offer grab and go breakfast items from 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.
There will be both hot and cold items as well as snacks and beverages.
Alternative Dining:
The Main Dining Room will be available when occupancy requires the opening of additional restaurants.

The Spa

Open daily for 60-minute Swedish and deep tissue massages, 60-minute manicures and pedicures and hair salon services

The Serenity Garden is open daily
Monday Noon - 4:30 p.m.
Tuesday - Sunday 9:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
The pool and Octagon Pool are available.

Tuesday - Sunday 9:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
Participants must see the spa front desk for access. This allows us to control the number of
occupants in this area and remain in accordance with state guidelines.

The Indoor Pool is open daily.
Monday 9:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
Tuesday - Sunday 9:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
For use of the indoor pool, please see the spa front desk for access as occupancy is limited according to state guidelines.

Golf

The Old Course is open Tuesday- Sunday. The halfway house on this course is also open.
Single carts can be made available upon request for a fee.
The Cascades Course is open Friday-Sun. Single carts can be made available upon request for a fee.

The Equestrian Center

The Equestrian Center is open for trail rides and private carriage rides.
Open Wednesday - Monday 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. (Closed on Tuesdays)

The Shooting Club

The Shooting Club is open for skeet, trap, five stand and sporting clays.
Private lessons are available, but social distancing is required.
Sunday - Tuesday: 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Wednesday: Closed
Thursday - Saturday: 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Archery

Archery is open daily. The targets will be spaced appropriately to allow for social distancing.
Monday - Thursday 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.
Friday - Sunday 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Mini Cascades Miniature Golf

Open daily. Individuals may be asked to start at specific intervals to allow for social distancing.
10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.

Bicycle Rental and Trail Use

Bicycle rentals are available daily.
9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
The Homestead trail system is open for hiking or biking.
The trail system includes the North Trail, the South Trail and the Deerlick Trail.

Cascades Gorge Hike

The Cascades Gorge Hike is available daily. Reservations are recommended.
Monday - Thursday: 1:00 p.m.
Friday - Sunday: 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.

Fly Fishing

Fishing passes and private fishing guides are available.

Tennis / Pickleball

The Homestead has two tennis courts and two pickle ball courts. Rental equipment is available. Tennis and pickleball courts open daily, reservations recommended.

Falconry

Open Monday - Saturday. Class size may vary to allow for social distancing.
Classes at 10:00 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 2:00 p.m.

The Homestead S'mores Express

Private tractor-led rides are available for groups of up to 12 people.
Tuesday - Saturday: 5:00 p.m.

Allegheny Springs Outdoor Pool:

The outdoor pool is open daily in accordance with state guidelines.
Access to this area is by reservation and in increments of three hours to control occupancy, provide availability to
all guests and maintain proper cleaning and disinfecting protocols.

9:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. (reservations required)
A morning and afternoon session will be available by reservation only
Morning session is available from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Afternoon session is available from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Evening session on a first come, first serve basis. This session is open 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.

**Per state guidelines the use of hot tubs, saunas, splash pads, spray pools and interactive play features are not permitted.

Swimming pools can be open at 75% capacity for general recreation.
