"Is the Law of Virginia Sufficient to Meet the Threat of Sea Level Rise?"

The commonwealth has not modified laws to deal with the progressive increases in sea level that are affecting coastal Virginia. This presentation will highlight the extent and significance of sea level rise, then examine existing statutes most related to the issue. Are current laws sufficient? If not, what are the shortcomings? What have other states done?

"The President, The Press, Mueller, and Impeachment"

President Donald Trump is the third president in history to be impeached. This presentation will explore the role of the press in disclosing events that led to the Mueller and Impeachment investigations and will include remarks by two reporters who were part of teams that won Pulitzer Prizes for their work. They will be joined by two lawyers who were key players in the drama, Emmet T. Flood, IV, former Special White House Counsel, and William A. Burck, who represented Don McGahn and Steve Bannon in the Mueller investigation, and currently represents McGahn and U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in the impeachment proceeding. Richard Cullen, counsel to Vice President Mike Pence, will moderate the panel discussion after introductory remarks by Dr. Larry J. Sabato, director of the Center for Politics at the University of Virginia. In addition to a lively engagement on the fascinating legal and constitutional issues involved in both probes, and the ongoing impeachment proceeding, the panel will describe how in today's hyper 24/7 news cycle reporters and lawyers are in almost constant contact.
