Presented by Martin Wegbreit, Director of Litigation, Central Virginia Legal Aid Society - Richmond

Under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Stability (or CARES) Act, expanded unemployment compensation is one the two major sources of financial help and economic stability to cope with the COVID-19 crisis.  This two hour session covers the basics of Virginia unemployment compensation procedural and substantive law, with special emphasis on the rapid changes allowing benefits to more workers, quicker payment of benefits, larger weekly benefits, and benefits paid for long time periods.
