A Few Special Events

DEBATE -- The race to become the next governor of Virginia comes to Hot Springs during our meeting. Democrat Ralph S. Northam and Republican Edward W. "Ed" Gillespie will appear in the first face-to-face debate of the winners in the 2017 state primary elections. Judy Woodruff, anchor and managing editor of "PBS NewsHour," moderates this free, public debate at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 22. Sign-up and name badges are required to enter the debate hall. Members of the public can preregister online until noon Wednesday, July 19. Afterward, walk-in registration will be available at the VBA Meeting Registration Desk in the Garden Room of The Omni Homestead Resort.

BANQUET ENTERTAINMENT -- This year's banquet includes after-dinner entertainment by best-selling authors David Baldacci and Adriana Trigiani. They will exchange thoughts and comments Friday evening, July 21, in the Grand Ballroom. Each Summer Meeting registration includes a banquet ticket.

We're Going Green

Like last year, the VBA will provide all written materials for MCLE programming online only. That's right, no more heavy packets of paper to lug around the conference center. Bring your laptop or e-device, sign on to the conference center Wi-Fi and access your materials from our website. Prefer hard copies? Be sure to print at home or work before arriving at the Homestead. All registrants are being notified of the link to access MCLE written materials.
