Two Southeastern law school teams will head to New York for the final rounds of the 69th Annual National Moot Court Competition after regional first- and second-place finishes in Virginia.

William & Mary Law School Team B captured first place and Wake Forest Law School finished in second place in the Region IV contest, Nov. 16-17. Held at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit in Richmond, the Region IV competition was an activity of the VBA Young Lawyers Division.

National Moot Court project volunteers coordinated the logistics of a brief writing and oral advocacy competition among teams of law school students from Virginia, North Carolina, West Virginia and Kentucky. The project volunteers secured members of the judiciary to serve as judges, among other tasks.

The best advocate award went to Mr. Cohen on William & Mary Law School Team B.

Best brief was a three-way tie with a score of 90.5 to:

  • University of North Carolina School of Law Team A
  • William & Mary Law School Team A
  • William & Mary Law School Team B
