The Virginia Bar Association Foundation received a $5,000 spot grant from the Virginia Law Foundation to help finance this year’s Region IV round of the 2019-2020 National Moot Court Competition.

This project of the Young Lawyers Division, which applied for the grant, brings together law students from mid-Atlantic and Southern states to compete in brief writing and oral advocacy. Regional winners move on to compete nationally.

The students’ oral arguments are heard by panels of volunteers from the bench and bar, who have an opportunity to provide feedback to the up-and-coming generation of attorneys.

Project Chair Travis Gunn at McGuireWoods LLP and YLD Chair Jennifer L. Ligon of Williams Mullen welcome volunteers to serve as appellate judges for the regional competition. Please contact them directly if you are interested.

The Region IV contest will take place Nov. 15-16 at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit in Richmond.
