The Supreme Court of Virginia on March 27 issued an order extending the judicial emergency through April 26 to mitigate the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

The original order affecting all Virginia district and circuit courts came out March 16 and covered the period through April 6. It stated that nonessential, nonemergency court proceedings in all district and circuit courts are suspended unless specifically exempt. All nonexempted court deadlines were tolled and extended for 21 days.

The new order extends these limitations for 21 more days.
