The Supreme Court of Virginia on Aug. 20 again extended the judicial emergency, this time through Sept. 20. This is the ninth order related to the judicial emergency.

Provisions of the amendment of the eighth order, entered Aug. 7, will not be extended. That amendment suspended and continued through Sept. 7 the issuance of writs of eviction pursuant to unlawful detainer actions related to the failure to pay rent. With the new order, the suspension and continuance will cease after Sept. 7 unless amended by a future order.

The latest order means the period of judicial emergency extends more than six months, from March 16 through Sept. 20.

This page lists all orders concerning the judicial emergency in response to COVID-19.
