The Young Lawyers Division and the Federation of Virginia Food Banks have introduced Legal Food Frenzy 2020 Redux to help ensure Virginians have enough to eat in these unprecedented times.

Virginia's food banks expect a 50% increase in people experiencing food insecurity over the course of the next year.

September is Hunger Action Month, when food banks raise awareness about food insecurity. Because of the pandemic, the traditional spring Legal Food Frenzy competition was canceled. In the past 13 years, the legal community has contributed 18 million pounds of food to local food banks.

So the VBA Young Lawyers Division created Legal Food Frenzy 2020 Redux to help fill food bank shelves this fall. Monetary contributions will be accepted throughout September.

You can donate by going to https://vafoodbanks.org/legal-food-frenzy.

Two law firms already have pledged their support of Legal Food Frenzy 2020 Redux with sponsorships: McGuireWoods LLP and Troutman Pepper.

The following law firms have offered to match donations from within their organizations:

  • Kaufman & Canoles, P.C.;
  • Vandeventer Black LLP;
  • Gentry Locke Attorneys; and
  • Anonymous, for donors from Virginia courts, government attorneys and staff.

Find out more on the LFF 2020 Redux event page.

Additional legal offices or individuals interested in sponsoring or providing matching funds should contact Alex Cuff at acuff@mcguirewoods.com.
