The Virginia Bar Association is the independent voice of the Virginia lawyer, advancing the highest ideals of the profession through advocacy and volunteer service. The VBA offers highly rated programs, helpful resources and many educational and social opportunities. Members and nonmember legal professionals in Virginia attend. VBA members receive invitations to VBA-sponsored events and benefit from members-only discounts on programming, products and services, including on-demand CLE courses. Who Can JoinAll licensed Virginia lawyers and lawyers in good standing in of the bar in other states and the District of Columbia are eligible for full membership. Membership is not automatic, interested attorneys must apply to join. Sections & CommitteesThe VBA encourages members to get involved in our 2 divisions and 19 sections, which will inform your practice, help you serve your clients better and fulfill your personal and professional needs. Additionally, the VBA has 8 standing committees appointed by the VBA president to assist in the operation and services of the organization. Young Lawyers DivisionThe Young Lawyers division is open to VBA members age 40 and younger and those in their first three years of practice, regardless of age. The Young Lawyers Division of the VBA fosters leadership skills in new attorneys while expanding professional contacts. Its many active projects provide opportunities for service to the community and to the bar. Law Practice Management DivisionEvery VBA member automatically becomes enrolled in the Law Practice Management Division. The leaders of the LPMD and its committees create focus on the efficient operation and management of law practices and legal departments, the promotion of professionalism and the healthy work-life balance for practitioners.
