A food and fund drive competition among Virginia law firms and legal offices and agencies to help the more than 1 million Virginias who are “food insecure.”

A Guide to the Administration of Decedents’ Estates in Virginia

Revised in 2015. A manual to assist people in the administration of a decedent’s estate, whether you wish to know what is involved before agreeing to serve as a personal representative or if you’ve assumed the responsibilities of administering an estate. A downloadable, indexed PDF version also is available.

The Center for Teaching the Rule of Law grew out of a Virginia Bar Association project

Changing the way students learn about the rule of law as the basis of all of our rights and responsibilities as American citizens.

Video: Protecting Adults at Risk: A Mandated Reporter’s Guide to Recognizing and Reporting Suspected Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation

Learn to recognize and report suspected abuse, neglect or exploitation of at-risk adults, defined as the elderly and those with mental disabilities, through a video produced by The Family and Children's Trust Fund in partnership with the Virginia Department of Social Services and the VBA Young Lawyers Division (YLD).

A sampling of YLD projects

  • Model Judiciary Program
    VBA YLD members introduce high school students across Virginia to the judicial system. Students participate in mock trials and mock appellate arguments before the Virginia Court of Appeals and the Virginia Supreme Court.
  • Credit Issues Project
    Educate teenagers about the importance of responsible credit and debt management and the pitfalls surrounding the misuse of credit.

Reforming the Law, Advocating for the Public

The Virginia Bar Association is devoted to improving Virginia law. The VBA proposes and supports statutory changes before the Virginia General Assembly that are in the public interest.
