CLE Opportunities with the VBA
Share |

Have you attended a VBA statewide event, such as the Summer Meeting in July, or a CLE conference?

The Virginia Bar Association, through its sections and committees, offers ample opportunities for continuing legal education in specialty areas of the law as well as for ethics credits. And some are even provided for free to VBA members!

In the second half of the calendar year, you can choose from about 10 MCLE-accredited conferences and seminars, nearly all before the Oct. 31 compliance deadline. An additional five MCLE events generally occur in the first half of the year, including the Annual Meeting in January.

You can find these events on the VBA online events calendar, on the VBA home page when the date draws near and on social media, including on the VBA Facebook events page. Notices go out to members of sections involved in planning the conferences, but attendance is open to all lawyers. VBA members frequently get discounts on registration fees, as do members of the coordinating section.

Pro tip #1

You can filter calendar searches to show only CLE conferences. Simply click on All Categories at the top of the calendar and select the type of event you are looking for from the drop-down menu.

Pro tip #2

Most conference event webpages invite lawyers to Express Your Interest. If you are not a member of the event's coordinating section but want to make sure you receive emails with event details, click the Express Your Interest button and provide your name and email address and leave the rest to the VBA!

Pro tip #3

When registering online for a conference, log-in to the VBA website first. Your registration will automatically populate with your member data, making signing up even easier.
