Strengthen Justice Through Law Reform
Share |

One way to get involved in the VBA is to suggest improvements to Virginia law that benefit the public and strengthen the administration of justice. In 2019, the VBA’s legislative agenda consisted of 12 bills that bubbled up from the membership, sections and affiliated groups. All 12 were signed into law by the governor.

Learn more about the process and how you can propose legislation on the Advocacy page of the VBA website or from your VBA section council.

During the General Assembly session, a page on the VBA website follows the progress of VBA-endorsed legislation, with updates three times a week.

Ahead of the session, the VBA holds Legislative Day, which occurs on Sept. 26, 2019. This is where sections and affiliated groups present proposed bills for consideration by the VBA Board of Governors. You can take part in improving the law by submitting a proposal by Sept. 13.
