Since its opening, Virginia Bar Association Insurance (VBAI) has enjoyed serving as the trusted insurance partner to many Virginia attorneys.

However, The Virginia Bar Association (VBA) has decided to cease operating an insurance agency subsidiary and focus energy and resources into its core mission of advancing the ideals of the profession through advocacy and service.

Professional liability and other business lines

The VBA has identified an experienced insurance agency that we are recommending to serve you going forward. We are pleased to announce that Virginia Commonwealth Corporation (VCC) is prepared to serve as your agency for Property & Casualty insurance policies.

These include your policies for:

• Professional Liability,
• Cyber,
• Property,
• General liability,
• Workers' Compensation and others.

Personal and benefits/HR solutions

BeneFinder has been our provider for these lines in the past:

• Health,
• Dental,
• Voluntary employee benefits,
• Medicare Supplement,
• Medicare Advantage, and
• Vision.

BeneFinder is prepared to continue to serve as your agency for these insurance policies.

Important details

Here are some important details as you prepare for this transition:

1. Effective Date: Effective June 30, 2024, VBAI will cease its operations as an insurance agency.
2. Existing Policies: Your existing insurance policies will remain in effect and your rights under those policies will not be affected by the VBA’s decision to cease its insurance agency operations.
3. Agency Transition: We are working with VCC and our insurance companies to transfer your policy(ies) with as little interruption as possible.
   If you decide to engage another insurance agency to serve your insurance needs, please inform us of your decision.
4. Questions Regarding the Transition: Your VBAI Account Manager is still available at the same phone number and email address during this transition period, or you can contact us at 844-370-9218 or customerservice@vbainsurance.com. VBAI will continue to service customer needs until June 30, 2024.
