To the VBA family,

I wanted to take a moment to remember how and why all our worlds changed on Sept. 11, 2001.  It is not just a phrase to say that we must never forget - The bigger point for all blessed to be in this profession and in this country is to recognize the very fragile nature of our great democracy and strive to preserve it. 

The lives lost, 2,996, are only the beginning of the tragedy of the day.  We lost 343 firefighters and paramedics, 23 NYC police officers and another 37 Port Authority officers – all of whom rushed into an impossible situation to aide their fellow citizens.  We lost some of “the best of the best” in every venue that was attacked.  We must remember those losses and strive to make each day, our profession, our Commonwealth, and our country better!

We are blessed to be here and working in a great profession.  We should never take our blessings lightly and do whatever we can to ensure that the Rule of Law is followed and that the greatness of our profession and Virginia are preserved.
