The July results from the Virginia Board of Bar Examiners are out and the commonwealth just gained 459 new lawyers. An additional 33 individuals passed the bar but have not yet been licensed.

More than 79% of first-time bar exam takers passed. The overall passing percentage was 74.77%, the board reported.

The Supreme Court of Virginia will hold an admission ceremony virtually on Dec. 8.

New licensees can join the VBA at no cost

The Virginia Bar Association invites the new licensees in Virginia to join the commonwealth's largest statewide voluntary bar association and get engaged.

VBA dues - and all benefits of VBA membership - are free for fall 2021 new licensees through Dec. 31, 2022. Apply at vba.org/join and under Select Your Membership Type, select Fall 2021 and create your profile.

Existing Law Student members of the VBA should log in at vba.org/login.aspx and update their VBA profile online with current contact information and law school graduation date. Then contact the VBA staff about upgrading your membership status to New Admittee.
