WILLIAMSBURG -- Richmond lawyer Lonnie D. “Chip” Nunley III became the 138th President of The Virginia Bar Association Jan. 24 at the group’s Annual Meeting.
Nunley is a partner with Hunton Andrews Kurth in the firm’s Richmond office.
He succeeds Kimberlee Harris Ramsey, also of Richmond, who becomes the VBA’s Immediate Past President. Ramsey is president of FloranceGordonBrown in Richmond.
Nupur Sudhu Bal was elected the President-Elect of the VBA. She practices with the Richmond firm of Bowen Ten Long & Bal.
And Steven P. Gould of Danville, president and CEO of PLDR Law, took office as the Chair of the VBA Board of Governors. The Board elected him to the position last fall.
Both Bal and Gould are past chairs of the VBA’s Young Lawyers Division.
YLD Leaders
Alicha M. Grubb, who practices with Gentry Locke in Roanoke, is the new chair of the YLD.
She is joined in the YLD leadership by chair-elect Alexandria A. Cuff, who is with McGuireWoods in Richmond.
New members of the Board
The VBA membership elected four new members of the Board at the meeting:
- Regina F. Amick of Wolcott Rivers Gates, Virginia Beach
- Tricia A. Dunlap of Dunlap Law, Richmond
- Seth J. Ragosta of Flora Pettit, Charlottesville
- William W. “Billy” Tunner of ThompsonMcMullan, Richmond.
The Board last fall tapped several individuals to fill the representative seats:
- The Honorable Marla Graff Decker, Court of Appeals of Virginia (Judicial)
- Dr. Iria Guiffrida, College of William & Mary (reelected, Law School)
- Del. Patrick A. Hope, D-Arlington (Legislative)
The Board’s Government Attorney Board seat is currently vacant and will be filled this spring.
